About Hats

Hats are not only the best way to give a casual outfit a twist, they are also useful to protect your skin from sun damage and keep your hair in place. I tried at least three different types of hats in my recent trip to the beach: the "panama hat", loved by hipsters and by Ecuadorians (FYI Panama hats are actually from Ecuador and not from Panama), a "floppy hat" (the big one used by posh ladies who need to protect their botoxed faces from sunlight), and a "fedora" hat like the one I'm wearing in these photos - hand weaven out of natural materials, not too big, not too floppy and not too pretentious. Usar un sombrero es una de las maneras más fáciles de darle a un look casual un "twist". Además, también es bueno para proteger la piel de los rayos UV y para que el pelo no se enrede con el viento playero (que abunda en las playas del norte de Mykonos). Estas vacaciones usé al menos tres diferentes tipos de sombreros: el "panama hat"- amado por hipsters y por los Ecuatorianos (el panama hat no es de Panamá, es de Ecuador); el sombrero "floppy", amado por toda mujer que aspira a ser elegante; y el sombrero "fedora" - tejido a mano utilizando fibras naturales y que no es ni tan pretencioso, ni tan impráctico como los otros.
