Alterations: Good or Bad?

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

One year ago, I wore this jacket in one of my personal style posts. At the time, the jacket was Victoria's, who, a few weeks after I had worn it decided that she hated the furry collar. She concluded that the jacket would look way better without it. Victoria's afternoon of clothes-alteration-enlightenment ended with her visiting a nearby (and relatively dodgy) alterations shop, coincidentally named "Vic's". When she brought the jacket back from the shop I was devastated: not only had the jacket lost its weird charm, I pointed out that it was going to be absolutely useless during Oxford's cold winter. Without the furry collar, the winter winds would hit us (cause I wore it all the time too) straight in the chest. Afterwards, Victoria decided she didn't want the jacket anymore, and I decided to keep - it looks (sort of) OK if I leave it unbuttoned. This is the perfect example of an alteration gone wrong. Have you altered something and then regretted it? My look: River Island altered jacket, Promod skirt and a PAAR triangle ring, available here.
