100 Years Ago

Visiting Edinburgh had been part of my to-do-list for a long time. Little did I know that I was going to tick another item off my list: seeing my favourite painting once again. I first bumped into “100 years ago” by Peter Doig at the Pompidou centre when I was living in Paris in 2004 and immediately fell in love with it. Ever since, I have kept track of the painting’s whereabouts, and in 9 years the painting and I never managed to be in the same place at the same time. But things happen when you least expect them, and I when I planned my trip to Edinburgh I had no clue that there was an amazing Peter Doig exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery. Viajar a Edimburgo había sido parte de mi lista de pendientes desde hace mucho tiempo. Al planear el viaje, no tenía idea de que al visitar Edinburgo iba a quitar otro elemento de mi lista: ver mi pintura favorita por segunda vez. La primera vez que vi "100 Years Ago" de Peter Doig fue en 2004 en el centro Pompidou, cuando vivía en París. Desde entonces, le he seguido la pista al cuadro durante 9 años, y nunca antes habíamos podido estar en el mismo lugar al mismo tiempo. Pero las cosas pasan cuando menos lo esperas, y cuando planeé mi viaje a Edimburgo, no tenía ni idea de que había una increíble exposición de Peter Doig en la Scottish National Gallery.
