Icono de la Semana: María Noriega

Maria studied communication and was convinced that she would never specialize on advertising. She has spent four years working on it. Her favorite activities, in order of importance are: going to concerts, sleeping and eating well. Her favorite bands are Beirut, Arctic Monkeys and Sufjan Stevens, as she never gets tired of listening to them. In June, she plans to go to the Governors Ball to see Jack White. Her top guilty pleasure is listening to country music. On an average day, Maria likes to watch people walk by. She likes to analyze how people walk, how they dress and how they interact with the environment around them. Sometimes she writes. She writes anything that goes through her mind, especially when she's has a bad day. "Writing is the best therapy, and it's way cheaper than going to a psychologist," she says. She would never show anyone what she writes on her small Andy Warhol notebook, perhaps her most intimate possession. Maria is surrounded by very talented friends and her dream is to undertake a project with them. She thinks that "many friends are completely wasted in their jobs and have a lot of potential." She would maybe like to start her own agency in a few years. One of hey key traits is that she never knows what she wants. "Knowing what you want in life is a luxury that few can enjoy," she says. For now, she likes to let life surprise her by trying new things all the time.

María estudió comunicación convencida de que nunca se especializaría en publicidad. Hoy, lleva cuatro años trabajando en ello. Sus actividades favoritas, en orden de importancia, son: ir a conciertos, dormir, y comer bien. Sus bandas favoritas son Beirut, Arctic Monkeys y Sufjan Stevens, nunca se cansa de escucharlos. En junio tiene planeado ir al Governors Ball para ver a Jack White y su placer culposo es escuchar música country. En un día normal le gusta observar a la gente pasar. Le gusta analizar cómo caminan las personas, cómo se visten y cómo interactuan con el entorno que los rodea. A veces escribe. Escribe cualquier cosa que le pase por la mente, sobretodo cuando tiene días malos. "Escribir es la mejor terapia, y es mucho más barato que ir al psicólogo", dice María. Aunque nunca le enseñaría a nadie lo que escribe en esos malos días. Por eso, la libretita de Andy Warhol con textos escritos en plumas y plumones de diferentes tamaños es de sus posesiones más íntimas. María está rodeada de amigos muy talentosos y su sueño es emprender algún proyecto con ellos. Piensa que "muchos amigos están completamente desperdiciados en sus trabajos y tienen todo el potencial". Le gustaría tal vez poner una agencia de publicidad en algunos años. Lo que más la define es nunca saber exactamente qué es lo que quiere ser o hacer. "Saber lo que uno quiere en la vida es un lujo del cual pocos gozan", dice. Por lo pronto le gusta probar cosas nuevas y dejarse sorprender por la vida.
