Icono de la Semana: Maria Carranza

Friday, May 30, 2014

Maria works as production coordinator at Mantarraya, one of the most renowned Mexican producer companies. She studied History and wrote her thesis on philosophy and Danish film. She loves bread with Nutella, being alone, and spending hours reading existentialist literature. Writing is one of her greatest passions, especially scripts, in fact, she is about to finish her first one, which took her five years to write. She has a black sense of humor and happy people make her a little bit nervous. She likes Facebook but hates Instagram, and doesn't know why. She doesn't consider herself a music expert so she likes everything from Edith Piaf to Nicolas Jaar. "I don't consider myself an "icon", I'm actually pretty ordinary. I would like to think I have charisma," says Maria, laughing. With a million dollars she would pay her car, buy a house for her mom and travel around the world. If she had a chance to work on an altruistic project, she would like to work with families that have terminally ill patients. She would love to make their own movie and if she could give any advice to her younger self it would be "hold on, it doesn't matter to be happy, what matters is finding inner peace." Hardly anyone knows that Maria can't sleep without socks.
