Most of you remember Clap Your Hands Say Yeah for songs like the 2005 hit The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth, on which Alec Ounsworth surprised the music industry with his unique and unstressed voice. In 2011, the band returned with Hysterical and a much more mature sound, that eventually caused three of the original five members of the band to split. On June 3rd, Ounsworth, joined only by the band's original bass player, opted to release Only Run, the band's fourth album studio, instead of pursuing a solo career.
In Only Run, the band's first self produced album, overwhelming drums and synthesizers wrap each song, filling the now absent band members. Songs like As Always and Little Moments remind us of early Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, on which vocals are less elaborate and tuned, but on Cover Up and Coming Down, featuring Dj Kid Koala and Matt Berninger, lead singer from The National, respectively, Ounsworth shows us he can now sing, and that he can transmit more serious emotions. Muchos se acordarán de Clap Your Hands Say Yeah por canciones como The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth de 2005 en la que Alec Ounsworth nos deleitaba con sus cantos átonos. En 2011 la banda lanza Hysterical, en donde se escucha un sonido mucho más maduro, pero que ocasionó la separación de tres de los cinco miembros de la banda. En junio 3 de este año, Ounsworth, acompañado únicamente por Matt Wong, bajista original de la banda, opta por lanzar el cuarto álbum de la banda, en lugar de hacer una carrera de solista.
En Only Run, el primer álbum completamente producido por Wong y Ounsworth, se pueden apreciar baterías y sintetizadores que opacan las voces y guitarras, pero le dan un sonido mucho más completo a sus canciones.
