Jeff Koons: A Retrospective

Jeff Koons is one of the most influential and controversial artists of our times. He has tested the boundaries between advanced art and mass culture and challenged the limits of industrial fabrication. DUring my trip to New York last month, I had the chance to visit the Whitney Museum of American Art to see what is Koons' most complete exhibition to date. Seeing a chronological recount of his most iconic works was eyeopening. When I go to exhibitions I usually try to put my phone away and enjoy each piece, although I am a photography fan and I usually can't help it and I end up taking a few photos of my favorite pieces. Koons' work is also almost built for you to want to take a selfie. Speaking of which, there is a new Warner series coming up about this exact same phenomenom: Selfie. Jeff Koons es uno de los artistas mas controversiales y con mas influencia de nuestros tiempos. Ha puesto en prueba los limites entre el arte avanzado y la cultura masiva, y retado los limites de la fabricación industrial. Durante mi viaje a Nueva York el mes pasado, tuve la oportunidad de visitar el Whitney Museum of American Art para ver la exposición mas completa de Jeff Koons hasta el momento. El poder ver la recopilación de sus obras mas importantes en orden cronológico fue realmente sorprendente. Cuando visito exposiciones normalmente trato de dejar mi celular en la bolsa, pero la obra de Jeff Koons es casi hecha para las selfies y para Instagram asi que no pude resistir y tome varias fotos durante mi visita.
