I often struggle to choose the right gifts. I usually go for cool clothing items or seasonal trends or gadgets, but I never really think about investing a bit more in "timeless" pieces. I was having a chat with a friend the other day about how our grandmothers were really good at buying timeless pieces (such as fine jewelry), a talent that my generation has pretty much lost. Fast-fashion has stolen our attention (and money), and has prevented us from thinking more strategically about what we buy. The above selection of timeless can be five or ten times more expensive than the usual Christmas gift, but that will last ten or fifty times longer.

Muchas veces me cuesta trabajo escoger buenos regalos. Normalmente me voy por algo de ropa, o modas pasajeras, pero casi nunca pienso en invertir un poco más en piezas "timeless". Estaba platicando el otro día con una amiga sobre el talento de nuestras abuelas en comprar joyería fina y piezas clásicas, talento que nuestra generación ha practicamente perdido. La a moda "rapida" y el consumismo no nos permiten pensar a largo plazo ni estratégicamente sobre lo que compramos. La selección de aquí arriba probablemente cuesta cinco o diez veces más de lo que cuesta mi regalo de navidad tradicional, pero probablemente dura diez o cincuenta veces más tiempo.
