#NYFW Favorites: Rodarte

Rodarte's Kate and Laura Mulleavy have a strange taste. I still remember the 2010 controversy they caused when they launched a makeup collection in collaboration with MAC inspired in the tragic Juarez killings. Sometimes their dark side dominates their bright side, which can be a bit too much, which means I usually take their collections with a pinch of salt. However, their FW15 collection is brilliant. At first glance it seems like a pile of lace and sequin mixed in a very strange way, but then it makes complete sense. It is fierce and elegant and cool at the same time, and has a good balance between sexy and dark. I loved it.

Las hermanas Mulleavy tienen gustos algo extraños. Todavía me acuerdo la polémica que causaron en 2010 cuando decidieron lanzar una colección en colaboración con MAC, inspirada en las muertas de Juarez. A veces, su lado dark domina el dulce, y puede llegar a ser demasiado para mi gusto. Por lo mismo, casi siempre analizo sus colecciones con escepticismo. Para mi sorpresa, la colección otoño-invierno 2015 de Rodarte me pareció excelente. Primero da la impresión de ser una mezcla rara de lentejuelas y encaje, pero luego todo hace sentido. Es atrevida, elegante y cool al mismo tiempo, y tiene un buen balance entre sexy y dark. Me encanta.
