Jonathan Saunders quits his brand

A couple of years ago I had the chance to attend Jonathan Saunders' backstage (see here) at London Fashion Week. It was one of my favorite experiences ever - to see the models, the clothes up close, feel the vibe and enjoy the location was unbelievable. Naturally, I was shocked to hear that Jonathan Saunders is leaving his own brand, which only this year received a huge investment to grow. Following his decision, the brand decided to shut down operations completely in early 2016. Saunders said his reasons are 'personal', yet many believe that he is not being able to balance his personal and professional life, which is a challenge that a lot of creative directors (and many other high level professionals in the fashion industry) are facing these days. The pressure of producing more than 6 collections per year, managing investor expectations, remaining highly creative and producing high quality work, while at the same time juggling with personal life struggles must be tough. Nevertheless, it is a shame to lose him so quickly - he is such a talented designer! Enjoy these photos from his Spring-Summer 2016 collection!

Hace un par de años tuve la oportunidad de ir al backstage de Jonathan Saunders (ver aquí) durante London Fashion Week. Fue una de mis experiencias favoritas en la vida - ver a las modelos, ver la ropa de cerca, sentir la vibra y disfrutar la locación fue increíble. Naturalmente, entre en shock al escuchar que Jonathan Saunders ha decidido dejar su propia marca, la cual este 2015 recibió un gran monto de inversion para crecer. Después de la noticia de sus salida, la marca decidió cerrar por completo a principios de 2016. Saunders dijo que sus razones son 'personales', pero muchos piensan que es porque le esta costando trabajo balancear su vida personal y profesional, lo cual es un reto para muchos directores creativos, y muchos profesionales de la industria de la moda. La presión de producir seis colecciones al año, manejar las expectativas de inversionistas, presentar trabajo de calidad y al mismo tiempo mantenerse creativo ha de ser muy difícil. Es una pena tener que perderlo tan rápido - es un gran diseñador. Aquí les comparto algunas fotos de su colección Primavera-Verano 2016.
